“Biafra War Robbed a Generation of its Innocence”–Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on BBC Hard Talk

New York[RR] LONDON–In this interview with British Broadcasting Coorporation, BBC, addressed the issue of: “Biafra War Robbed a Generation of its Innocence”, Republic Reporters gathered. Certain Ndubisi reaction was furious. He called the interview, “Great interview”.

“Great interview i can wait till the day i will get out of this stupid country called U.S a country full of racist idiots both black and white Americans are the most stupid people you will ever come across.

Another commentator called Adichie a liar.

“Why is this girl hiding from truth? why is she lying via her teeth? Biafra is still very much alive and is hunting Nigeria, every igbo person has Biafra spirit in him or her. and that will never go away.

Another called it: “Brilliant Expose!

“I am also child of a parent who survived that war. Stories have been told and it still hurts that a generation was wasted. I have chosen to however, live through the weight of it’s embrace, to reach the waiting side of life that breaths and cradles the wealth of gifted promise! No regret for that war … My generation had moved on a long time ago. Why regret? It has no real value in life…except to continue a cycle of abuse…and self hatred. What happened during that war can only be brought into tomorrow if we give it life… But we say no to regret…NO!

“On why our leaders have chosen to under perform in the face of the unimaginable human and natural resources in our country….., to be honest, my imagination has decided to fore go conventional conversation on this, which might explain why I stare at what is happening.Yes, I just stare at the level of mediocrity that is being celebrated in our society today. On FEMINISM, perhaps someone should educate me more on this as I thought feminists argued that patriarchy was the root of women’s oppression, rejected marriage as an inherently oppressive social institution. Why are you then married Chimaamanda? Was it to fulfill your parents expectation as an Igbo lady born and raised in Igbo land? My problem with Feminists is that they don’t make good leaders and a such, your desire to change the world (Nigeria) may not sail.

“On Culture, YES I strongly believe that it should be dynamic and not a tool to suppress/oppress either sexes, rather a tool for social order in society.

Anonymous: “The questions you ask regarding feminism and why Chimamanda is married is rather silly. Ppl get married because they believe in it as an institution of companionship and lifelong partnership. Feminism is about gender equality and its expression is individual. The fact that some feminist choose not to get married, has nothing to do with being female. I don’t really see your logic. On the other hand, the conventional adoption of a man’s surname after marriage goes against feminist ideology, and you would agree that in this regard Chimamanda’s stance is clear.

“You say you have a problem with feminists; apparently, from the tone of your post, you are suffering from some form of egotistical complex. You are the kind of man that would marry an uneducated woman from your village, who will kneel down to serve you food and call you daddy.
