New York[RR]USA–IBB,Buhari Are Both Past destructive military aristocratic dictators that must never again be allowed back in Today Nigeria’s democracy..’said Okechukwu P. Oranika.

Reacting to reports that alleged “Gen. Babangida emerged from the closed door meeting with Jonathan urged all Nigerians, who mean well for the country, to support the President”, received mixed reactions from PDP supporters and APC supporters.

“Folks this statement by IBB is very significant. The key point here is that all Nigerians that mean well for Nigeria should support president Jonathan. Ok folks here is the corollary according to the theory of Syllogism which although not spoken directly by IBB but was implied through IBB’s remark. If you support Buhari then you do not mean well for Nigeria. Mind you IBB knows Buhari more than you and I, remember also that IBB staged a military coup to remove Buhari from power. quod erat demonstrandum,(QED)”, said, O.P., Oranika

APC agent Stevek, who writes from Washington, DC, USA fired back.
“Paul Oranika,Since you invoke ‘syllogism’ here to grace your interpretation, may I also introduce another concept in scientific deduction called ‘Occam’s Razor’?

Continuing he added, “Occam’s Razor is more commonly described as ‘the simplest answer is most often correct,’ although this is an oversimplification. The ‘correct’ interpretation is that entities should not be multiplied needlessly.

“So, using Occam’s Razor in this Babangida’s support for Jonathan to deduce his real motivation, wouldn’t you agree that Babangida is, simply, joining corrupt people like himself to ensure that the corruption fighter, Buhari, never get’s in Aso Rock so he doesn’t lose all his ill-gotten gains and pay for it?

“Wasn’t it the same motivation that made Nigeria’s collective corrupt cry out in 2011 when it looked like Buhari might get in, “He will jail us all”? Just trying to help your thinking a little bit.

“Or you prefer a government that steals our money at $20 billion and $30 billion a pop and leaves our universities – like Nsukka – and other institutions and infrastructures in shambles so just a few (not you and I) can live in undeserved opulence, like Babangida?

Nelson Ekujumi reacting called the attention of commentators on what Jonathan said a while ago.
Before We Forget.”President Goodluck Jonathan as MEND spokesman:

Said aftermath of the October 1, 2010 bombing at Eagle square, Abuja which claimed lives and destroyed properties, before the security agencies could come up with result of their investigations, this is President Jonathan on marble.

“President Goodluck Jonathan has absolved the Movement for Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND of complicity in the bomb blasts which claimed over scores of lives as the country was celebrating its golden jubilee independence anniversary in Abuja yesterday.

“In his first public reaction to the bomb blasts which took place less than a kilometre away from Eagle Square where he was inspecting a military parade in commemoration of the nation’s 50th independence anniversary yesterday, President Jonathan said terrorists were behind the deadly explosions and not MEND.

However, MEND had not only claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks, the militant had in an e-mail messages to some media houses warned of the impending attacks and advising people to evacuate areas close to the venue of the independence celebrations about an hour before the explosions went off.

Contrary to this claim,President Jonathan however absolve the group of responsibility for the attacks in his address at a colloquium in Abuja by the ECOWAS Parliament. Jonathan, at the event which was organised to celebrate African countries which are also marking their golden jubilee anniversary this year also delared that MEND is not a terrorist group.

“What happened yesterday was a terrorist act and MEND was just used as a straw; MEND is not a terrorist group,” the President said.

He added that the people of the Niger Delta are aware of the efforts of the present administration to address the deprivation of the past and will not do anything to jeopardise the opportunity.

“It is erroneous to think that my people who have been agitating for good living will deliberately blow up the opportunity they have now,” Jonathan said. The President who prayed for the repose of the soul of those who lost their lives to the blast however promised that the nation’s security agencies will be restructured to be able to tackle such attacks in the future.

Ezeana Igirigi Achusim attacks Steve,K.
“To you every one against Buhari is corrupt. Has it occurred to you that if the so called corrupt outnumber the Buhari supporters in the polls that GEJ gets re-elected?

Steve, K: “Mr. Achusin, By your own declaration, you are an octagenraian. Don’t you think that it is high time to reconcile yourself to your God by behaving, at least, morally and leaving Nigeria’s future to those who are young enough to have a stake in it?

“Or you don’t believe in God and the hereafter? Yes, I believe that you and your kind are irredeemably corrupt or, else, unbelievably stupid!

Oranika reacts to Steve K comments: “So, using Occam’s Razor in this Babangida’s support for Jonathan to deduce his real motivation, wouldn’t you agree that Babangida is, simply, joining corrupt people like himself to ensure that the corruption fighter, Buhari, never get’s in Aso Rock so he doesn’t lose all his ill-gotten gains and pay for it?—Stevek

“Stevek, While a case of corruption could be made against Babangida, your corruption charge against Jonathan is simply speculative. I dont know of any corruption case and evidence against Jonathan as yet. The charges against Jonathan is that he has not mounted any serious effort to fight corruption. So your invocation of William Occam’s Razor theory is inconsequential because in order to apply his theory correctly you have to first establish a case of corruption against Jonathan rather than speculation. The unknown variable according to William Occam in this case which you talked about is reason why Babangida said what he said, and your answer here why Babangida identifies with Jonathan is to deprive Buhari the opportunity to get to Aso Rock. In coming up with this simplistic explanation you also forgot other possible explanations that are simple enough to fit into the William Occam’s Razor analysis and that is the fact that Babangida is a member of the PDP ruling party which Jonathan also belongs to.

We all totally agree that Corruption in Nigeria must be addressed by any and all governments of Nigeria. Unfortunately the Jonathan Administration has done little to address this national crisis. Many of us believe his second term would see much action in the area of fighting corruption I certainly hope so.

“I am not Babangida’s defender. The same reason that Babangida must never again be allowed to govern Nigeria is also responsible why Nigerians must again reject Buhari. Corruption in Nigeria has reached epidemic proportions and has become largely institutionalized legacy from the military’s past governance. Buhari could not apply the same Koboko tactics of the 80’s when he staged a coup.

Today Nigeria has a democracy and any efforts at tackling corruption must involve all the three branches of the Government, as well as Nigeria’s social, economic and political institutions. Nevertheless the President must take an active role in fighting corruption through the Executive Branch’s Attorney General’s office exercising prosecutorial powers working with the EFCC and the Judiciary and other governmental agencies. I continue to preach my message that nobody who has ruled this country in the past deserves another chance. Even you Stevek will do a better job ruling Nigeria than Buhari could. I wonder why Stevek does not focus on the need for younger, more educated and skilled Nigerians to run this country forward.

Finally, Mr. Oranika, said, “Northern Nigeria has many younger generation of Nigerians that fits this criteria.Nigeria has severed the links to its past destructive military aristocratic dictatorships and must never again go back to these leaders who have no moral rights any longer to lead this nation. This is my stand. On whether APC could do a better job than PDP fighting corruption I don’t know. One thing we know for sure is that major players in APC are busy collecting ransom payments from Lagos State Government even as we speak..”, he added.
