Knicks: Jennings provides a spark and leadership off the bench in Knicks’ 106-95 win against the Magic on Thursday night

New York[RR]New York–Brandon Jennings finished with a game-high 12 assists in the Knicks’ 106-95 win against the Magic on Thursday night. In a piece by Keith Schlosser titled: “Jennings continues to provide a spark and leadership off the bench”, in part it said, “Coming off the bench, Jennings has provided a spark and leadership for the secondary unit. His performance last night earned him a team-high +15 BPM.

“After signing a one-year deal with the Knicks, Jennings is motivated in playing for his next contract. Jennings is averaging 8 points and 5.5 assists per game this season.

“Widely known as an overzealous offensive player who can pour in points, the level of unselfishness Jennings has displayed thus far has been a welcomed surprise. After an injury plagued campaign last season, he’s attempting to revitalize his career and play for his next contract. Donning orange and blue this year, he’s certainly shown versatility and value.

“Coming off the bench (no longer tasked with being the primary offensive option on an otherwise poor team), Jennings has comfortably found his niche on a contending Knicks squad. He provides a spark unlike one New York has gotten off the bench in years and makes those around him instantly better. This team has plenty of young talent on their bench. Not many could have predicted that Jennings would be the glue that holds them all together.

Mr. Schlosser added: “But his uncanny ability to do so was on full display Thursday night. With the starters beginning the night with somewhat of a lukewarm effort, there was electricity buzzing along the hardwood as soon as Jennings hit the floor. Almost at the blink of an eye, the Knicks had taken control, fellow reserves began scoring in punches, and Jennings was racking up the assists. He loves pushing the pace.

“Playing against his former team, Jennings had visibly more hunger than usual. His pesky defense irritated Orlando’s opposing floor generals. With a sly grin after a rare three-point field goal of his own, it was easy to see Jennings is easily pumped up around his ability to spark something positive and lead the Knicks in the right direction.

“The team leader in assists per game, Jennings is the primary reason why the Knicks have also received such a boost from other reserves. He’s also been an integral part of Kristaps Porzingis’ continued evolution. Surprisingly enough, it’s hard to say where New York would be without him right now. With a +15 against Orlando, he was the reason the Knicks won this latest one.
