‘Michael Ibeziem,50, Attempts Killing Neighbor’s Wife, Takes Away 6-month-old Baby For Rituals..’–Republic Reporters

Mew York[RR] Igweocha–Emerging reports say, that, ‘Michael Ibeziem,50, Attempts killing neighbor’s wife, takes away 6-month-old baby for rituals”–Republic Reporters has learned.

In a piece culled by Sunsonline, said, “Michael Ibeziem, who’s well over 50 years was a driver with Geometrics Power, an independent power plant, based at Osisioma near Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State. All his life, Ibeziem, from an account, had remained a poor fellow at nobody’s instance, but all of a sudden he woke up to a warped up reality that at over 50, he was supposed to be a rich man that made him to set out in the evil way..” it said.

“These are indeed precarious times as strange things alluded to in the Holy Book that would signify the end time are competing for space globally . It is again the time the Holy Book says that nation would rise up against nation …and neighbour against neighbour.
If it were not so, how can one explain this?

Source say, “To accomplish his inordinate ambition, Ibeziem planned to use Destiny, a six-month-old daughter of his neighbour, Mr Victor Archibong, for money rituals. And to achieve his goal, he believed he must first kill the baby’s mother who works in a Pools office near the NNPC depot at Osisioma’.

OKEY Sampson, culled from Aba, said, “Thus on February 12, 2014, blood thirsty Ibeziem set out for his devilish assignment as explained. Oluchi spoke to Oriental News in a hospital where she was being treated after their neighbour attempted to snuff life out of her and take her daughter for rituals.

Hear her: “I was in my office on February 12, 2014 being Ekeakpara market day when my phone rang and the caller told me he would like to see me and I said okay. After a while, Papa Chiamaka whose real nameis Michael Ibezie, our neighbour and a driver with the Geometrics Power Plant in Aba drove to my office in their office van. When he came, I enquired from him if he was the one that called me earlier and he said yes, expressing surprise how I managed to know he was the one that called.
“He requested that we should go to our house together since we live in the same compound and when I demanded to know why, he told me there was someone who had a special pool number he would like to stake and that he would not do so in my office for security reasons as the man who he said works in their office would stake up to N100,000 at once.

To convince me further, he told me the man wouldn’t like to come to the office to play the coupon because, according to him, the man wouldn’t like to expose the game. He said we would first of all go to his company (Geometrics Power Plant) to pick the man before going to the house. It was then I consented to his request. I carried my six month old child and took some coupon papers along with me and followed him. Before we left, I informed one of my neighbours of where I was going to and that he should take care of my office while I was away.

While I was hurrying to go with him, I forgot to take along the sandals of my baby and when I told him of my intention to go and pick it, he said I should not worry that after a while he was going to bring me back to the office. I followed him. That day was a market day (Ekeakpara) market and there is always hold up on major roads in the area on such days. Because of this, he decided to use a track road which I never liked because it was just a footpath and very lonely. He told me that he used the footpath in order to cut off the hold up on one of the major roads and that very soon he would hit the tarred road again.

“Shortly after assuring me that we would soon hit the tarred again, he suddenly stopped the van inside the bush and came out. When he stopped the vehicle, since I knew we had not reached our house (because all of us are living in the same compound), I was still sitting on the passenger’s seat backing my child and the man surprisingly came to where I was and said ‘mama Mimi (that was what they used to call me), you are going to die today’. I thought he was joking until he came and grabbed my neck, was squeezing it and repeatedly saying you will die today. I started screaming and shouting, ‘Papa Amaka, why must you kill me, what have I done to you to deserve this type of treatment’.

As he held me by the throat trying to squeeze life out of me, I put up a little resistance to see if I could wriggle myself out, but there was little I could do because of the baby I was backing who had started crying and gasping for breath just like myself under the scorching sun”.

According to her, as fate may have it, what looked like help appeared on the horizon, but all of a sudden, it vanished into the thin air.

Nevertheless, her assailant was forced to leave her although almost dead as he also made away with her suckling baby.

Oluchi who was writhing in great pains at the hospital told Oriental News her story in a shaking and inaudible voice:

“As God may have it, when it appeared I was going to give up the ghost, two commercial motorcyclists from nowhere headed towards our direction. Before they could get to the scene, Papa Chiamaka in a hurry to kill me and take my baby for money-making ritual, pushed me out of the van and zoomed off with the baby, climbing my body with the tyres of his van in the process. After this, I became speechless neither could I walk. To make matters worse, the two commercial motorcyclists I thought would come to my rescue, when they approached where I was, looked the other way and passed believing I was a mad woman.

“I was there weeping and gnashing my teeth when two women were passing, fortunately, one of them knew me, she ran to me as I was still writhing in great pains and asked what happened to me, but I was unable to talk and she knew what happened to me was serious. She rushed immediately and brought a commercial tricycle operator and took me to the hospital to save my life. I was first taken to Oleka hospital where I gave birth to the child I was backing when the man attempted to kill me. That was the last I knew where I was until after some days, I found myself in the present hospital”.

Oluchi’s husband, Mr Victor Archibong, was as flabbergasted as anybody else within their neighborhood that Ibezie could attempt doing what he did.

He told Oriental News how he was in his office on that fateful day when some walked up to their office to inform him of what befell his wife.

His words: “I was in my office when some women who came back from market, came to our company to ask of me. When I came out, one of the women wanted to give me a message concerning my wife, but I said it could not be her because she was mentioning of Ogechi instead of Oluchi which is my wife’s name. So when I mentioned my wife’s name, she said yes it was her, that my wife had an accident and I followed her to the scene of the supposed accident, but she (my wife) was not there and people there directed me to one hospital and I went there, I saw her, she was totally unconscious and I did not know what to do.

However, it was very late in the night that God brought my wife back to life and she opened her eyes and started talking. I told her that the only thing she would do for me was to narrate all that happened to her. The first thing she told me under excruciating pains was that that man (Papa Amaka) wanted to kill her.

“Then when I asked her about my daughter, Destiny, she was backing at the time, she said the man drove her away in the van. I didn’t know what to do again. There was a hand bag my wife normally puts her GSM phone so I was in the office when my own phone rang and my wife’s name and number appeared on it. I was surprised because after the incident my wife lost her phone; I wouldn’t know who was calling me with it.

All the same, I answered the call and the caller was my neighbour, Papa Chiamaka and he asked me where I was, I told him I was in the hospital and then asked him where my daughter was and he told me he was with her. Then he came to the hospital with my daughter and my wife’s handbag.

So when Ibezie came to the hospital with his victim’s daughter, he tried to put up a phantom and laughable defence when his neighbour asked him why he wanted to kill his wife.

“When he came to the hospital, he never knew my wife had told me everything, he thought she was still unconscious so when I asked him what happened, he said it was an accident. I then asked him if he had knocked down my wife with his vehicle why did he not take her to the hospital? He said he thought my wife had died that was why he decided to rush to their company first to park the vehicle which he said cost his firm over N4 million and that he had no such money to replace the company’s vehicle should anything happen to it. I became furious and asked him whether the company’s vehicle was more important than the life of my wife. I reminded him that as a neighbor the best thing he could have done if he believed my wife died in the ‘accident’ would have been to contact me or better still report to the nearest police station instead of going to the office to park the vehicle first. He then started begging me, that it was the work of the devil.

Archibong had to invite the police from Osisioma who immediately came and arrested Ibezie where he is telling detectives all he knew that happened to Oluchi his neighbor wife.

When contacted, Abia State command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirmed the incident.
Ogbonna who described Ibezie’s action as the height of callousness and man’s inhumanity to man said the suspect would be prosecuted after police investigations.
