NNPC’s Forensic Audit Report, After 2015 Polls: FG Suppressing Report On Missing $20b–APC

New York[RR] With respect to missing $20billion oil and gas funds, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the PDP-led Federal Government of making efforts to suppress the audit report, saying the deadline for the release of the report, which was set by the government itself, has come and gone.

This was contained in a statement, Saturday, in Ilorin by the National Publicity Secretary, of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
We engaged PwC (PriceWaterHouseCoopers) with the Auditor General of the Federation taking the lead. They asked for 16 weeks to complete the work; they have spent 11 or 12 weeks so far and they will be done in a couple of weeks.

APC said adding the remaining four weeks for the conclusion of the report, as requested by the auditors, meant that it should have been ready by latest Nov. 7th 2014.

Update: NNPC: Okonjo-Iweala Will Not Release NNPC Forensic Audit Report Until after February 16, 2015 Presidential polls

New York[RR]Abuja–Note long ago, the finance and coordinating minister for the economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in a brief statement reiterated the expatriate and independent audit of the NNPC’s supposedly inaccurate books must be done. Quickly after that Republic Reporters investigations show United State based financial giant Price Water House was hired to audit NNPC account. Sources close to Price WaterHouse said NNPC forensic report is ready with incriminating exposes against NNPC top brass, multinational oil giants like Exxon oil, British pretroleum, Agrip, Elf, others in concert with the presidency, CBN and its affiliates looted billions of dollars from NNPC account to service its political interests at home and abroad while whatever is left of infrastructures have been totally collapsed.

Curiously with February presidential polls the finance and coordinating minister for the economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and his staff has been pressured not to release forensic result until after the elections in slated for February 16, 2015.

Indicators show that the finance ministry’s stand into the alleged missing $20 billion, which suspended CBN governor Mallam Sanusi Lamido who was later pushed out of CBN, in a ‘later leaked’ letter, alerted President Goodluck Jonathan about forensic audit which presidency agreed to with some reservations.

Sources said then that, “The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has asked for urgent action with regard to an independent forensic audit of conflicting claims of unaccounted funds made by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamdio Sanusi.”

Energy analysts and opponents from All Progressive Congress, APC, are calling for NNPC forensic reports.

Certain APC agent asked: “So you mean Okonjo-Iweala is NOT going to release the report of the forensic audit of NNPC? I hope everyone can now see that Okonjo-Iweala has abandoned professionalism for Abuja politricks”!

“Are we this helpless that these poverty distributing people can treat 170 million people with such disdain?

Continuing he said, “Madam minister, where is the report on the missing $20 billion (USD) ?!? Only a complicit politician will conclude (as it appears) that the non-release of the damning report is less damaging than the potential backlash from the sleaze revealed by the report!

“Okonjo-Iweala says they will not cut salaries of government workers. What she did not say is that they owe these same workers three months salary (September, October,November) and will probably owe them December’s pay as well! This is inhumane. How do you operate an efficient civil service when workers are not paid their salaries?
“Pensioners are not paid? Yet, Bode George has SURE-P money to rig elections? Excess Crude Account is used as a PDP slush fund? The ecological fund is used as campaign finance?”, he alleged.

Energy intelligence sources disclosed to Republic Reporters that NNPC forensic reports will not be made public until after February 16, Presidential polls. We stand corrected until the presidency and finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala releases NNPC forensic audit reports. As where this will happen until after the elections.

Okonjo-Iweala’s remarks about NNPC forensic audit: “My position on this has been clear from the start. The Ministry of Finance’s reconciliation showed a shortfall of $10.8bn in NNPC remittances to the Federation account. After this, the conflicting claims continued with new figures such as $20bn being mentioned.

Anonymous commentator called Sanusi-Lamido Sanusi now Emir of Kano a daylight robber.
His words: “Mallam Sanusi is a daylight robber. If not because of mediocrity system established by the roguish British devil through “divide and rule” how would this cattle rearer stepped into the office of Governor of central bank, after 2 years in jail for murder and terrorism. The same British is crying fowl and calling epithets to Nigeria nation that is only a victim to her evil imperialist interest of foisting fools as leaders it could manipulate. This same imperialist U.S. and Britain fought against “Biafrans” that sincerely wanted to bring merit system to Nigeria. Hypocrites, feeding fat on corruption they institutionalized in Nigeria. Sanusi, where is the 300 billion Central Bank money. Bloody thief. Why does Britain or U.s.A. employ him. Or are you saying there is no more jobs in Wall Street?..”, he fumed.

“So since 13th February I have called for an independent forensic audit.

“President Goodluck Jonathan indeed announced last night that there will be an investigation into whether there are any funds missing from NNPC. He also indicated that the correct process needs to be followed in this investigation and I understand that the entity that has the proper authority to initiate such an investigation is the Auditor-General of the federation.

“I therefore want to see the truth from an investigation under the auspices of the Auditor-General, which in my view should be undertaken as a matter of extreme urgency by independent external auditor.”
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala insists that an audit of NNPC’s books must be done.

Sources said aforesaid statement ‘may help to soften the impressions that some Nigerians have that the president and this administration supports corruption. Also, may downplay the notion that the suspension of CBN governor Sanusi Lamido, was a witch hunt to keep him quiet.

“Goodluck Jonathan suspended Nigeria’s central bank governor last week for “various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct”. The president has insisted that his decision to suspend the governor was taken “in absolute good faith, in the overall interests of the Nigerian economy and in accordance with our laws and due process”.

“Even in United States no government will release damaging reports about itself close the an election, only a fool will do that”, insider sources at the presidency said.
