Radio Biafra: Bolaji Aluko’s Radio Kudirat, his hypocrisy on Radio Biafra–Republic Reporters

New York[RR]Abuja–Few hours Radio Biafra’s Director, Nnamdi Kanu was kidnapped by Federal government of Nigeria,in Lagos, Bolaji Aluko, one time political commentator on Radio Kudirat, who once invited United States and NATO States to attack Nigeria State, over purported annulment of June 12, 1993 presidential polls, allegedly won by late MKO Abiola, now a Vice Chancellor, Federal University Otuoke, hypocritically said that citizen Nnamdi Kanu arrest by feds was necessary for security reason.

His words: “…The Number 1 responsibility of a government is security, so calling a man in to explain the precise reasons for his visit is not unreasonable, particularly since the bad brand name of Biafra of a million deaths is invoked. We also do not really know whether some particular incidents linked to any of his speeches occurred or were averted in the Past.

Adding that, “An abundance of caution is therefore necessary, and Kanu Nnamdi and his defenders should bear with us Nigerians. If he really means no harm, that will be known soon. In the time being, he should granted all his human and civil rights consistent with Nigerian and even international law, the latter being less tolerant of intentions or acts of terrorism.

“..Kanu Nnamdi is quite an articulate fellow, and I am not surprised that you claim that he is a lawyer, which makes his dual track of peaceful means and violent methods more interesting and suspect.

“Do you know any more about his life trajectory?, he reacted a respected international political analyst, Nebukadineze Adiele, who said, that Mr. Kanu’s human rights which susceptible in accordance to international human rights charter, and equally covered by so called Nigeria constitution, 1999 edition (amended).

Mr. Adiele had said: “..I also heard him say that he supports both peaceful and violent means of achieving Biafra. Again, that also falls under protected speech because you cannot appreciate his acceptance of peaceful means but turn around to consider his acceptance of violence means as criminal when it is obvious that the two means he mentioned still reside only in the mind. Not all protected speeches are palatable and a speech does not become a crime just because someone does not like it. Democracy is not George Orwell’s 1984 — you cannot criminalize thought in a democracy.

And warned citizens to massive reject dictatorial tendencies in all its ramifications.
“Nigerians must begin to reject the dictatorial tendencies left behind by our past military jackboots of leaders. Most of those leaders were ignorant and improperly educated and we must not, in this 21st century, consider utterances that have not hurt anyone or caused any havoc in society as treason, just because some ignoramus of military leaders once did so. There is nary an excuse to detain this fellow based on his speeches — at least the ones that I have checked out so far; he carefully qualified his words to avoid violating any laws. VC Aluko is wrong in saying that it was appropriate to detain him in order to find out if he has committed any crimes or has any plans of committing crimes against Nigeria. Such a comment is repugnant to justice and freedom…”, he warned.

Canada based Professor Obi Nwakanma called-out Mr. Bolaji Aluko on his activities during the June 12, 1993 crisis and his position on Radio Biafra vis-a-vis Radio Kudirat, quickly forced Bolaji Aluko, to become defensive.

Nwakanma’s words:”I’m just thinking, Dr. Aluko, what you’d say if some name was interposed in this statement of yours at about 1997 or thereabout, when you used Radio Kudirat to basically call for the invasion of Nigeria by a foreign power. I think, sir, you must, of all people, be a little more sensitive, and circumspect in this matter..’, he said.

Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) and is the director of the London-based radio station Radio Biafra, was arrested for advocating for the independence of the Biafran territories, which lived separately from Nigeria from 1967 to 1970 and was forced or re-annexed by combined forces of British, Arab countries like Syria, Egypt, Northern Nigeria and South West Nigeria and others, after 3.5Million Biafrans were killed killed.
